![]() Still, the houses in the main missions were always unique and creepy. I understand that there probably werent enough resources to do more, but fetch quests could get a little tedious at times. While it's nice that there are as many houses to explore as there are, repeating the same seven houses seven times takes away some of the mystery, because you know where the Items are hidden every time. Sadly, one of the things that slightly breaks the immersion are the reused assets. Never before has a game made me take a break to think about what I would choose, but this game did. This is legitimately one of the best morality systems in games Ive ever played, as there are no simple "good" and helpful or "evil" and self-serving choices, each Choice is bad, and you just have to choose which is the lesser or two (or three) evils. Each one is fully voiced, and the acting is believable, and help add to the weight of this games incredibly good moral system. The Characters also make the City feel more alive. The decay and decadence of the fully fleshed out city is definitely tangible, be it through the weeping NPCs grilling rats over an oil drum, or the rotting whale carcasses, you know this isn't a pleasant place to be, and the atmospheric music doesn't alternate much, but the few tracks that are there are good. The City looks horrible, and I mean that in the best sense possible. It's clear that the Devs had a lot of Love for the source material. The Influence from the more popular tales like The shadow over Innsmouth or Call of Cthulhu is deffinitly in the forefront, but the small references to tales like Arthur Jermyn or Charles Dexter Ward make every case exciting, having the player guessing which deity, which easter egg might be around the next corner. As I had just finished the complete fiction of Lovecraft shortly before I started this game, I was delighted to see a Plethora of references to his short stories right off the bat. Overall a 5/10, average game.ģ5h PlayedThe Players opinion on this game will greatly be influenced by one thing: whether or not they have read Lovecraft's literature or not. Music really adds to the atmosphere but the menu theme can get tiring to listen to after waiting at the loading screen. Nice detail that you can change outfits(even though you have to complete longass quests to unlock them). Every time you dive and ascend the game plays the same cutscene(wtf is this repetitive shit). Graphics are average, and like I said, the game is capped at 60fps. Although he makes humorous comments in the most dark discoveries. Interesting characters instead of the main one for which you don't know much about his backstory. Choices are seemingly important but ultimately drive you to the same two endings. Clue gathering and piecing together the facts using the MC's abilities is very interesting. Fast travel happens between phone booths(catch is you gotta be at a phone booth to fast travel). The Story and lore are very interesting(as anyone would expect from a Lovecraft inspired story). Quests make you find and mark by yourself the location on the map which was fun the first 5 times(after 20 times it became so boring that I had to search up the locations). In the world you can find phone booths. IF YOU START BLASTING THE ENEMIES THE POLICE ATTACKS YOU INSTEAD: WTF, DEVS. Then everyone runs away and the fucking policemen don't shoot them down. ![]() When you enter a building and run away from the enemies they chase you outside. ![]() Sanity mechanic is very good and adds to the tension of battle. ![]() Underwater combat sucks because it consists of shooting enemies with the harpoon to stun them while you run away(apparently they cant be killed by getting pierced several times by a fucking harpoon). Stealth is useful for creeping up an unaware enemy and emptying the lead storm in his ass before he can dodge. ![]() Melee attack is only useful for the crawling enemy that dies in one hit(after you upgrade the melee attack) because it doesn't stagger the enemies enough for you to dodge. However if you run out of bullets you can scavenge, save and quit then scavenge the same container for more materials(broken ass loot mechanic). You have to scavenge for materials to craft bullets for your guns, bombs, and meds. The combat is unforgiving (especially when you miss shots due to the damn frame drops). First of all the game is capped at ~60 fps which is trash cause I often get fps drops during combat ect. 20h ProgressA Single Player Horror Story Driven Shooter. ![]()
